image for Everton FC confirm new underground stadium plans

Everton FC announced the latest twist in their attempts to build a new stadium to replace their current home - Goodison Park.

Having struck a new deal with the British military, the club have confirmed that they will be using a number of large tunnels and storage centres under Liverpool city centre as a start point in the construction in the world's largest underground stadium.

The tunnels and main hub (referred to as "Station H36") of the underground network was constructed in 1943 in order to provide a potential home for 1000's of civilians in the unlikely event of a nuclear attack.

The British Military will be aiding in the creation of the new stadium, and also have confirmed that MI-6 will be sponsoring the club for 15 years from the stadium launch. The opening of the new ground is expected to be in 2013.

The club did however confirm that the stories that the team would run out to their matches to the song "Going Underground" by the Jam as a "nonsensical rumour".

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
