Gordon brown today laid down the gauntlet to Labour Party rebels, using his keynote speech at the party conference to outline his way forward.
"Today I urge all of you to rally behind me as we negotiate this difficult time. Anyone who wants to mount a challenge can meet me outside. I'll take on anyone who thinks they are hard enough."
Labour party members were stunned as Gordon (known as The Glasgow Assasin) went through a shadow boxing routine.
It has long been understood that Tony Blair beat him to the leadership on points with faster footwork and although everyone new Gordon was the stonger puncher he failed to land a significant blow in their battle.
Tony Blair who stills has cracked ribs from their encounter said "I don't think we are likely to see a challenge as Gordon is the best pound for pound MP in parliament."
Audley Harrison MP was not thought to be ready to mount a challlenge.
