After months of speculation about his future, and pressure from those around him, Gordon Brown announced that he is to step down at the end of November.
The Tesco shelf-stacker has been a part of the night-time team at the Chippenham store for more than 42 years, during which time 81-year-old Gordon has seen a few changes! He said:
"When I started back in 1966, things were different. There was none of this 'scanning' business at the tills, none of this decimalisationism with the new money, none of these American ready meals and no kids knocking young girls up around the back of the shop. Aye, times were different back then!"
Mr Brown is well-liked by his colleagues, which is in stark contrast to his namesake at No. 10 Downing Street, who is loathed by his fellow ministers, and hated by nearly everyone else in mainland Britain.
Mr Brown, the shelf-stacker, retires on 30th November; let's hope the Mr Brown the Prime Minister goes sooner.
