It was not long ago that Tory Party tough guy, David "Bruiser" Davis was ready to rob people of their individual rights in the name of law and order. The extreme position to illustrate the lengths to which his advocacy went was his campaign to revive the forty year moratorium on the death penalty in England.
Today our boy Fascismo has begun to blaze quite the different trail. Along the high and low roads of Yorkshire, Davis has become the defender of civil rights. He has turned his back on the law and order movement and is now fighting to protect human rights against the fear mongering anti terrorist movement.
When asked if this reversal represented a contradiction Bruiser denied it: "We conservatives have always revered the rights of the individual. I was simply defending the rights of criminals or people who unfortunately resemble them. Prison and even the electric chair can do a world of good for poor law breakers and their doubles. Terrorism on the other hand is a crime that rich people can be accused of. It is our, er, their civil rights I seek to defend!"
