Viking invasion of France was heavily underfunded

An article entitled "Norman Invasion A Lie!" by writer Mike Kreffel, which blasted the notion of Frenchmen having invaded England in 1066 and blamed the invasion on Vikings instead, was exposed as THE TRUTH by a famous historian today.

Jeremy Bede, who is in charge of some boring museum in London, confirmed that the first Norman was a Viking pirate called Rollo who invaded France in a single long boat. The vessel in fact capsized in the River Seine. Despite this, the French King Charles gave the unsuccessful invaders the dukedom of piece of land in Northern France, which they called Normandy after the Norsemen. Apparently, the ancient French couldn't pronounce the letter 's'. Charles later became known as "Charles the Stupid".

Bede added that William the Conqueror was the sixth successor of Rollo and in the intervening 120 years, the Normans had learned to cut their hair and trim their beards, in order to find pretty French women. William was in fact a friend of Saxon King Edward the Confessor, who visited Normandy when Vikings drove him out of his home, and the Norman Invasion was an attempt by William to claim the English throne, which he alleged had been promised to him and not Harold.

Bede said of Mike Kreffel:

"This bloke really knows his subject. Whatsmore, he appears to have a healthy distaste for Frenchies. If he were to apply for a job as Chief Historian here, we'd snap him up. We'd even arrange a longboat to bring him to London and give him a castle to live in!"

It only goes to show, spoofery pays!

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
