A study has shown that more than one third of British Asians don't feel very British - in fact, many hate themselves for having been tainted with the term 'British'.

A total of 38% of people of South Asian origin said they feel 'slightly' or 'not at all' British. A further 8% said they regard themselves as only a 'teensy weensy' bit British. More than half claimed white people have called them 'names', and 75% said they have, at one time or another, felt uncomfortable.

Many admitted having felt pressured into being a 'coconut' - a derogatory term for a person who is 'brown on the outside and white on the inside' - to be able to to 'fit in' in British society.

The poll of 735 British Asian people aged 16 to 34, carried out recently by the BBC Asian Network, found, however, that not all British Asians felt the same.

Nearly two-thirds said they regularly ate fish and chips, whilst more than a quarter said they owned either a bowler hat or slippers.

Eleven per cent refused to call Morris Dancing ridiculous, 15% didn't mind queueing for a bus - even in the pouring rain - a staggering 78% confessed to not going for regular check-ups at the dentist, and a whopping 91% said they'd regularly rung in sick at work when there was absolutely fuck all wrong with them.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
