Apprehension was growing today that a bid by Formula One supremo Barmie Ecclescake may signal the start of a spate of takeovers by British nationals for Premiership clubs.
Chairman of the Premiership Club Owner's association Randy Fatburger III stated, "This is ridiculous, it will shake soccerball to its roots if these British guys are allowed to start buying into our clubs. Before you know it the manager will be picking the team and ticket prices might even fall, Jeez! we might have to learn the goddamn offside rule."
The Russian owner of fashionable London FC Grecian Slapabic agreed, "Nyet, nyet and again nyet. Is that enough nyets yet?"
Mr Ecclescake was unavailable for comment as he was on business in Monte Carlo with two blondes a foot taller than him.
