LONDON - Lou Reed's latest work, entitled 'Hudson River Wingless Migration', is his first recording of ambient meditation music. Although he has been practicing Tai Chi and clean living for many years, only recently has he been able to reflect his lifestyle through his music.
"I went through a Yanni phase until he split with Linda Evans," said Mr. Reed via telephone interview. "Actually, I think it was more of a 'Linda Evans phase' and Yanni happened to be along for the ride."
"At one point I also tried to incorporate the Velvet Underground sound with some Kung Fu moves, which really sucked. But now I feel that my groove is really on and Tai Chi really clicks with me. It's also great for the knees -- unlike heroin."
Reed is currently on tour and is scheduled to play the Hammersmith Apollo on June 30th and July 1st.
