The wave of resignations at the BBC continued today as at approximately 11:30, Mrs Martha Higgins, a well known and loved figure at Television Centre, resigned. Mrs Higgins, a former tea lady at the struggling broadcasters staff cafe, told The Spoof earlier that her resignation was "for the good of the corporation" and despite the bad publicity from the recent events, that they would pull thorough.
This comes after recent comments made by one of the café's competitors, The Slippery Snake coffee house. During June last year, The Slippery Snake claimed that their coffee could be made in "45 seconds", a claim that was rebuked by Mrs Higgins at the time. However, the recent Latte Enquiry has concluded that Mrs Higgins was "wrong to make such comments", even though there has been no evidence at this time to prove that The Slippery Snake's claim was true.
Unsurprisingly, speculation has mounted about who the next person will be to resign. Some say that it will be Benjamin Chamberlain, the disgraced caretaker of five years ago. ITV are also believed to be planning a new reality game show based on the Pop Idol formula. Provisional titles include Pick Who Should Quit and The Sack Race.
