Paul McCartney has been told by Frank Rallings the council's head of planning at Rother District Council he has to pull up one trouser leg while walking on his Peasmarsh farm in Sussex England. He was told he has to stay within the rules as laid down by land/property laws made in 1535.
McCartney told the council he had no idea that such laws still existed but would be happy to meet them half way and roll his sleeves up during the day.
The council's next meeting is on the third Tuesday every other month except and including May. Mr McCartney will have to wait to find out if he can keep his trouser leg pulled down on his farm but until then he will have to abide by the law of the land and go bare legged.
It is not clear as to what leg has to be naked so McCartney will have the choice and be able to swap around as his fancy takes him.
If the ruling goes against McCartney he will have six months to appeal.
