Driver fined for seeding

Funny story written by Joe Leff

Thursday, 3 January 2013

The driver of an open-top sports car will have to pay £100 plus costs, after scattering sunflower seeds on the pavements.

Jim Gardner, 39, of Wetwang, near Driffield, was reported after several pedestrians had been sprayed with the seeds as he drove along Bean Street.

He was spraying seeds at over 100 per square metre alongside the road, which has a seed limit of 5 per square metre of pavement.

Gardner, who admitted seeding, told the court that the tops of 6 sacks of seeds, perched on the back seat, had split open, and he was unaware that they were spilling out at such a rate.
He said he was deeply sorry, and it was something he would never do again, as he normally kept his seeds to himself and his wife.

Magistrates fined him and confiscated the rest of his seeds, adding that they would not tolerate unfettered seeding along the main streets of Wetwang.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
