A controversial new scheme announced by George Osborne today will give tax payers the opportunity to 'adopt' an unemployed person for as little as £5 a month.
The scheme will provide bi-monthly updates on how the jobless adoptee is progressing in his search for work and all adopters will receive a charming unemployed person cuddly toy as a gift on signing up.
"What we need is real ideas for real people in the real world", said Mr Osborne
"I got the idea off the television last week", he added.
Labour was quick to condemn the scheme as a prominent labour MP told us,
"labour condemns everything the conservatives do because that's our job."
