London - A £30bn smash and grab raid on UK coffers to aid and abet EU nutz raise a European army lies shattered today.
Thinly veiled 'transaction taxes' on the City of London had been targetted in a series of poorly camouflaged plans about bailing out the bankrupt Eurotrash zone.
But the daft ploy was easily scuppered after NATO military intelligence branded it as 'yet another Putin scam' dressed up as a European Union strategy.
The UK still maintains a 60,000-strong army on the Rhine after two World Wars failed to convince the Allies that Germany could ever be trusted again.
But it's meant that like Japan - which is also barred from having a military for its slaughter during WWII - Germany has got rich quick without the tedium of billions of dollars in annual defence budgets.
"We blame Pope John Paul II's dastardly daughter for this latest Eurotrash wheeze," an MoD source said today.
"Wanna see pix of Angela Merkel lovingly tending her AK-47 at last week's closed doors summit?"
