Convicted murderer Derek Frazer has been granted permission by a High Court Judge to sue the prison service over a fundamental breach of his human rights. The right not to be locked up.
Legal papers lodged today state that the convicted murderer has spent 5 years of a 25 year sentence in a building with locks on all possible exists.
Liberal Democrat MP, Sarah Soft commented, "it is wrong to expect a human being convicted of a crime to have to spend time in a locked building".
In 2011, 75 prisoners successfully sued the prison service and are now being housed at the Holiday Inn Hotel.
News of this case comes just days after a convicted serial killer won the right to have access to a jacuzzi.
