We still don't have a picture of the bloody Dorking Review?

Top publishing figures threw their weight behind the bookshop phenomenon that has captured the public's imagination as a potential rival for the Christmas market was launched.

The tremendously popular The Dorking Review has come under attack in the last couple of weeks from a some groups wishing to see the project fail.

And yesterday right-wing weekly magazine The Spectator announced plans to publish a compilation of its Low Life column.

"This is a deliberate attempt by the publishing establishment to cash in on the public taste for complete bollocks that we have created," said a spokesman for The Dorking Review's authors, who have become so big for their boots they now operate out of hotel rooms and have publicists speak for them.

"Clearly The Spectator wants a piece of the Christmas stocking market that will belong to us. Well... they can want away. The Dorking Review is the book that everyone wants in their stocking this year."

A spokesman for a major publishing house told us: "Yeah - I've just been down The Ivy with a few of me mates. We ain't got nuffin'... this Christmas belongs to The Dorking Review. Respeck, innit."
