The sphincter of the footballing world was nipped-in tonight after the news that the bad boys of the game - Wimbledon's Crazy Gang - had won the Blue Square Premier play-off final against Luton Town, to gain promotion back into the Football League.
Wimbledon, made famous during the 1980s and 90s after their meteoric rise from obscurity to the very pinnacle of the game before crashing from sight just as quickly, beat their way back into the League after winning on penalties against the Hatters, and can now look forward to barnstorming their way around the lower divisions as they attempt to relive past glories.
Players like Vinnie Jones the film star, Gladiator John Fashanu and little-lad-sized Chelsea bloke Dennis Wise epitomised Wimbledon's gritty, determined and skill-less style of play, and it was they who were responsible for introducing the 'long ball game' to football under the managership of Dave 'Harry' Bassett.
Hang on, this might be a different Wimbledon.
