Triple Jump World Record holder Phillips Idowu is to skip the Royal Wedding on April 29th to raise funds.
The Belgrave Harrier is planning to hop, step and jump along the route from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey and then back to the Palace where the official reception will take place.
Idowu, who won the World Championships in Berlin in 2009, has lost his elite funding from British Athletics as his event has been reclassified as "pointless and silly looking".
The triple jumper made a special plea to the Queen, who is a well known fan of the discipline, and Her Majesty has given permission for Idowu to follow the Royal Carriage along the whole route.
Anyone wishing to donate to the cause can toss money into the plastic buckets attached to the rear axle of the 1902 State Landau Carriage which will carry Prince William and Kate Middleton from the Palace to the Abbey and back.
