West Indian authorities are concerned about an apparent epidemic of depression cases amongst adult males.
The Jamaican Minister of Health has issued a stark warning after a spate of West Kingston yardies presented with depressive symptoms over the past year.
Brenton Gayle advised :
"I would urge all yardies and their acquaintances to stop smoking ganja immediately. Long term use has always been problematic but doctors are now reporting an increasing number of persons complaining of depression after only a few years of smoking marijuana.
There's enough poverty, crime and gang violence in the city without our residents suffering from major health problems as well".
