The Old Firm, the pride of Scottish football, showcased the best of the great game in an epic 5th round Scottish Cup last night.
Although Celtic sneaked through to the quarter finals thanks to a Mark Wilson , the game pulsed with excitement, tension and violence from start to finish.
Flowing moves, crisp skilful football, touches of class, they were all missing as the players seemed determined to have as big a ruck as possible.
Three Rangers players were sent off - Steven Whittaker for 2 fouls in a minute, Mahjid Bougherra for 2 fouls in 10 minutes and inevitably El Hadji Djouf, for one foul and dissent.
But, if truth be told, there could have been more red cards as Celtic manager Neil Lennon, Celtic coach Johann Mjalby and Rangers Ally McCoist all got involved in scuffles off the park.
Even the winning goal was a scrambled effort with the Bhoys' full back Mark Wilson scuffing the ball into the ground before it ballooned into the roof of the Gers' net.
Throw in 30 arrests for sectarian, racist and breach of the peace offences and the evening was complete.
After a classy encounter like this, its surely only be a matter of time before the Old Firm get the call to take their rightful place in the Premiership.
