With only 18 months to go until the London Olympics, the British team have threatened to withdraw, saying that the logo of the games is "offensive" and "disturbing".
The part of the Olympic logo they are objecting to is the word "London" and the text "2012". Roger Mybannister of the British Olympic Committee explained:
"The logo appears to be a hidden message of some sort. We thought the Olympic logo was just a random jumble of blobs, but someone pointed out that it quite clearly spells out 'London 2012' in it. We have told the police, who believe it may be a bomb threat."
A police forensic expert said, "Whoever designed this logo was obviously deranged. Look at the jagged aimless shapes, very child-like and psychotic, and it seems to symbolise an explosion. Yet the text is unmistakeable. London 2012. Or maybe the 20:12 from London? Who knows? We hope we can decipher this nonsense before somebody gets hurt, but until then we are taking no chances and asking the British team to withdraw."
