Dundee United manager Peter Houston was livid after seeing his side lose 2-1 to third placed Heart of Midlothian at Tynecastle.
Hearts scored an 88th minute winner through Marius Zaliukas, but worse was to follow for the Tangerines when their top scorer David Goodwillie's injury time penalty was saved by Hearts' keeper Marian Kello.
Houston's ire in the post match interview was directed at the Hearts staff.
A furious Houston claimed that "the groundsman should carry much of the blame for our defeat today. I have no doubt that the state of the pitch directly affected the result. It was absolutely perfect today and that was deliberate. All of Scottish football knows that we're used to playing up to our knees in gutters. We didn't stand a chance today. The club will be lodging an appeal immediately."
