It was a game many were eagerly anticipating, Didier Drogba's Ivory Coast against Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal.
Alas, it was not to be.
Cristiano Ronaldo, the £80 million Real Madrid striker continued to frustrate the fans by falling on his arse and waving his arms about at referees at every opportunity.
It seems even Ronaldo's most devoted admirers are starting to turn against him, accusing him of being a prima donna show pony and a narcissistic liability.
True, he did have one moment of brilliance when he hit a post from distance, but the rest of the time he frustrated fans and his team mates alike as he dived all over the place, at the slightest contact, then instead of getting up and getting on with it, helping out his team, he struck melodramatic poses for the TV cameras. With opposition players frequently berating him for going down all too easily.
By contrast, Didier Drogba, recovering from a broken arm came on as a substitute for the last twenty minutes and gave a good account of himself.
The end result was a disappointing 0-0 draw.
Boxer and Manchester City fan, Ricky 'The Hit Man' Hatton, once described Ronaldo as the man he'd most like to punch in the face. On the evidence of this display, one can understand why.
More as we get it.
