Police with riot shields had to be deployed as trouble flared this weekend at a boxing match in the Thai capital of Bangkok.
The national boxing complex at Rachadamnern Stadium was filled to capacity as the spectators looked forward to the 3-round contest between Krungsak Kittiporn and his opponent Krikai Kittikhun, who were fighting for the Light-Middleweight Similar Name title.
As the announcer tried to get his tongue around the pugilist's names, he stumbled, and a fight broke out in the front row. This soon spread amongst the ardent, fiery boxing afficionados, until the whole auditorium was at it with swinging left and right hooks, and a few token chairs.
Police were called, and joined in.
The fight was eventually won by the police after a unanimous points decision.
