In breaking news, we've just been informed that Portsmouth FC could possibly be declared bankrupt as early as next week.
If these reports are confirmed it would be disastrous for the south coast Premiership club, famed for its fanatical and vociferous supporters, as automatic relegation and a large points deduction for next season would be inevitable.
We are told that taxmen and customs officials served some papers on the club just before Christmas, and that if club officials can't prove that the club is financially solvent then it would probably be declared bankrupt and wound up altogether.
An insider told us that the club is in a sound financial position, but there are concerns among the fans because they were promised a new stadium years ago and that failed to materialise.
But they did bung a roof on the away end.
The players were late receiving their astronomical salaries for last month, but apparently they did get paid in the end.
More as we get it.
