Dramatic news in East Yorkshire in the last few minutes after Hull City announced they have terminated the contract of Phil Brown and have already appointed his successor, the former Manchester City manager, Mark Hughes.
Sources close to the club say that Brown's dismissal has nothing to do with results on the pitch, but that "pre-agreed targets" had not been met, and that the club needs to be going in a different direction - up.
Hughes, the former Manchester United and Chelsea player who, unfortunately for him, is Welsh, attended a Press conference at the KC Stadium earlier this afternoon, and told reporters:
"I'm happy to be here at Hull. Yes, it's true I did say I'd be taking a break from football, but it's not exactly football here at Hull, is it?"
