Ricky Hatton, the Manchester-based boxer who was so unceremoniously dumped onto the canvas at the weekend by Filipino pocket dynamo Manny Pacquiao, has said that, in all future championship bouts, he will fight opponents wearing his trusty sunhat.
Pacquiao destroyed Hatton within two rounds of their light-welterweight fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, but the British boxer's camp believe their man made a tactical mistake by removing his headgear.
Hatton can regularly be seen sporting his sunhat, which makes him look a bit like a dodgy doley on a street corner looking to score some smack. He regards it as his lucky chapeau, and said today:
"Ah need t cover up more when am fi'in oppownents like Manny. That's why am gonna wear me 'at."
