Ricky Hatton has announced his retirement from the world of boxing following his Las Vegas defect by Manny Pacquiao.
In a full and frank interview, Hatton described how his training had been limited because of his concerns around the state of the Labour Party.
Following the defeat, it appears that Hatton will now be putting all of his efforts into preparing to run for a position as a Member of Parliament in next year's general election.
It appears that Hatton intends to challenge the incumbent Labour MP Ann Coffey for the constituency of Stockport.
It is believed that the contest between Hatton and Coffey may be closer than Hatton may think, Coffey is known for having a strong jab, and ability to move around the ring more quickly than would be suited to Hatton's style.
