There was a shock right at the start of the Formula 1 season at the Australian Grand Prix this morning, when all of the pre-race favourites fell by the wayside, with the eventual winner turning out to be the Safety Car!
Britain's Jenson Button, driving for the Brawn team, had started on pole, with last year's champion Lewis Hamilton down in 18th, and from the start, it looked like Button's race until a fateful moment with the finishing line almost within touching distance.
With Sebastian Vettel looking set for a brilliant second place, he and Robert Kubica tangled on Turn Three with three laps to go, and the Safety Car made its way out onto the track.
Travelling at supersonic speed, it passed all the other cars left in the race, including Button, and took the chequered flag for a first F1 win for its driver, and Top Gear mystery man, The Stig.
The Stig now leads the championship with 10 points, going into the next round in Malaysia next weekend.
