There was trouble in west London in the early hours of this morning, when a man answering the description of 'Cole' was arrested after an incident in a bar in South Kensington.
George Cole, 83, was apprehended by officers from the Metropolitan police, and taken to Brompton Road for 'questioning'.
Mr Cole, however, may have been the victim of a case of mistaken identity.
The former star of Minder and Henry Root was dining out with friends when officers burst through the doors of the restaurant, and identified him as their suspect. One of the policemen, PC Porter, allegedly told him:
"You're comin' wiv us, Arfur!"
Mr Cole was visibly shaken as he was led away, and failed to pay his bill.
Yards away, Chelsea players Ashley and Joe Cole, West Ham striker Carlton Cole, and ex-Manchester United stalwart Andy Cole sat swearing like a set of troopers.
Nat King Cole was singing on the jukebox.
