New York NY, September 5, 2008: National Football League (NFL) Commissioner Roger Goodell met with the owners of those pro-football teams that ended the 2007 season in last place of their respective NFC or AFC divisions.
The owners of these teams, in conjunction with each of the various stadium operators, are planning to remodel their team's home field in time for the autumn 2009 football season. The group came to petition the NFL to "level the playing field" by allowing a five percent grade to be inserted between the end zones. The home team would defend the high ground, such that the home team would truly always have the "home field advantage." The NFL must also change the rules about switching sides at the quarters.
Ms. Condoleezza Rice, who may be a future NFL Commissioner, sat in on the meeting. Candidly she mused, that George "Paper Bear" Hales (an NFL founder 1922) and Lamar Hunt (AFL founder 1959) would have not taken kindly to such changes!
