Wes Brown has emerged as the shock candidate for the some to be vacant Man Utd number 2 slot. It comes as a surprise to many as there had been rumours of several big names and numerous former players also being muted for the position.
What makes this even more surprising is that Brown had recently just extended his playing contract and so must be looking to double up.
Upon hearing the news, Wes had this to say "I am flattered to receive the offer and it is fantastic that I will get to continue my career at Utd".
On whether it would affect his playing Wes joked, "Do you honestly think my playing will get any worse?"
Several fans from around the country are backing this move commenting "I have watched Wes Brown when Utd play my team and for England and have often likened him to a Number 2, a great big load of number 2's in fact." and "They say poor players make great coaches so the future looks very bright indeed for Wes, I have often described him as number 2 when he is playing"
However Utd fans met the news with caution "Its been a marvellous two years but I dont want to have to go back to supporting Chelsea, with the credit crunch I am not sure I can afford to have to buy the Chelsea shirt as well at Christmas!"
