Ronnie O'Sullivan's 147 break has been heralded as the most boring piece of sporting perfection since Red Rum's third win at Aintree's Grand National.
Ronnie was quoted as saying:
"I know it was pretty boring but I couldn't help myself. After the first couple of blacks went in I just lost all control. I suppose this means I can't win the tournament now."
Yes, alluding to the fact that no-one who completes a maximum break has ever gone on to win the World Cahampionship, Ronnie seemed happy with the £157,000 but you could see a large doubt written all over his face.
His opponent Mark Williams could not be accused of sour grapes:
"He even managed to make it look quite sexy, although you'll get dissenters saying he's taking all the fun out the game by avoiding any intriguing safety encounters."
All in all, one for the purists.
