Referees' chief Rob Thickett has confirmed that referee Rob Smiles will miss next weekend's Premier League match after giving himself a red card in the game between Liverpool and Chelsea at Anfield yesterday.
Smiles controversially caused confusion by brandishing a red card at Rob Robbed but then insisting he was the Rob being sent off for doing absolutely nothing wrong.
"We expect referees to get big decisions like this correct," said Thickett. "On this occasion it was the wrong Rob and therefore Rob will not be officiating next weekend."
Thickett also revealed assistant referee Rob Redcard will be given next weekend off, after he scored a goal for Middlesbrough.
Thickett apologised to the Liverpool and Fulham managers Rob Wozrobbed and Rob Sickparrot.
"I spoke to Rob this morning and obviously he is extremely robbed with the decision," said Thickett. "I have left a message with Rob to apologise. Having looked at a video and seen a better angle and a better view, clearly he now recognises that he meant not to send himself off."
