Des Moines, Iowa-- May 4, 2007 - At the 7th Annual Freedom Financial Classic Golf Tournament yesterday in Des Moines, Iowa, Tiger Woods fell victim to event organizer and senior tour prankster Jack Nicklaus's latest gag. As Tiger addressed his tee shot on the 11th hole, displaying his impressive whip-like powerful swing, his ball erupted in a cloud of powder: the old exploding golf ball trick.
"I never saw it coming," laughed a befrosted Tiger at a post-match press conference, his trademark black trousers looking like the daily special at Dunkin Donuts. "Jack is such a ham. But I guess I should have known something was up when he offered to wash my ball after the 10th hole."
Tiger said Jack seemed to have "an especially toothsome grin" as he handed him back a gleaming ball. The galley gasped in unison, then broke into startled applause at the exploding ball. Jack could barely contain himself, his face more red than normal. Tiger stifled his laughter, double-clutching himself and grinning broadly as he rocked forward and backward after the surprise gag.
"It's just so like Jack. I was utterly focused on catching Davis [Love III] and Jack knew it. His timing was perfect."
Tiger then embraced Jack warmly, grabbed him by his thinning golden hair, and fed him to his caddy.
