Shaq's son Shareef is likely to leave UCLA early to play with his Dad, forming the first father/son tandem ever in the NBA.

Staples Center, Los Angeles. With the Los Angeles Lakers in turmoil after Magic Johnson's surprise resignation as head of basketball operations, and Luke Walton's dismissal as head coach, talks have begun with Shaq O'Neal in an attempt to lure him away from UCLA to replace Walton.

The offer comes at the right time. Shaq just turned down a chance to head the Bruins nuclear robotics team. He had already resigned as head of the academic decathlon squad after his men finished last in the Pac-12 after having won that championship ten consecutive years under the now retired legend, Woody Woodhouse.

A tantalizing thought: Shaq is still agile enough at 47 that he might become the first playing coach since Dave Cowens at Boston forty years ago. Imagine two aging stars - O'Neal [47] and Kobe Bryant, coming out of retirement at 40, and an aging LeBron James [34] leading the Lakers back to the playoffs in the 2019-20 season!

As an added bonus, Shaq's son Shareef is likely to leave UCLA early to play with his Dad, forming the first father/son tandem ever in the NBA.

All of this assumes that the famous Ball family of Chino Hills - father and sons - isn't interested in coaching or playing for the Lakers.

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
