image for Transfer Window: Harry Redknapp determined to do a deal...
"Still time for one more deal..."

Having been in court for the last week and a half, on charges of tax evasion, and now a league game on the actual day the transfer window closes, Harry Redknapp could have been excused if there was no coming or going at White Hart Lane today, but the crafty cockney (copyright Eric Bristow 1980s) has not let the 90 minutes v Wigan get in the way of a deal.

Harry asked the judge if he could leave court early today, and he pegged it down to Farphone Warehouse and bought four pay as you go mobiles for £50 - including £34 free credit.

Redknapp arrived at White Hart Lane to prepare for the game at 5.45pm, flanked by assistant Kevin Bond, son Jamie, and daughter in law Louise. The spurs boss normally stops for a word with the press, and also to pick up loose coins he sees on the floor, but this time he had one phone attatched to either ear and ignored the call of the press and a £5 note in the gutter.

A club insider told the spoof "Harry will be burning the midnight oil tonight - even though the window shuts at 11pm. He'll be doing deals from the touchline during the 90 minutes - it's only Wigan FFS. What was it last time? 9-1 with five from Defoe".

Defoe is one of the players expected to leave today, with Liverpool in the frame for his signature. Louis Saha is tipped to go the other way from merseyside to London, and Chris Samba and Junior Hollet from Blackburn have both been mentioned by the press. Roman Pavluchenko and Vedran Corluka could be on the way out. All in all a busy day for Mr Redknapp - anyone would think he was on 10% per deal ???

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
