Rumor is that the new addition will be called the BlackPad and will arrive in November. It'll be a tablet computer to compete with the Apple iPad and will be offered for sale by Research In Motion (the company that also sells the BlackBerry).
iPads are unimpressed. "It's just one more tablet to add to a growing list," said Ida iPad with a yawn. "And even its name is kinda boring. I mean, BlackBerry has a little pizzazz. But BlackPad? No way!"
The outspoken iPad continued, "BlackPad isn't a good name for a newborn. No imagination or joy in that name. And black is the color of death, of mourning. Appropriate for a product that isn't going to be around for very long. Not when it'll be facing competition like us," she said, beaming with pride. "We're here for the long haul."
Ida iPad's parting shot? "BlackPad sounds like a device for the dead, or maybe the undead. Y'know, ghosts and zombies and the like."
As Ida skipped away, she could be heard singing the tune "Bye Bye Blackbird." But with slightly altered lyrics. When she got to the chorus, she belted out, "Bye Bye BlackPad."
