It is generally assumed that Charles Darwin taught that the "higher" forms have evolved from the lower ones, which in turn implies that evolution is only nature's way of implementing what mankind calls "progress."
But Darwin thought no such thing nor taught it. In his "Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection" , Darwin remarks that "Natural selection includes no necessary and universal law of advancement or development, it only takes advantage of such variations as arise and are beneficial to each creature under its complex relations of life."
Yesterday, Charles Darwin V stated that we only need to look at the tribes that have changed very little in thousands of years and may have actually regressed.
Josiah Darwin VII agreed, "For example, can we say a Michael Jackson or Britney Spears has "progressed" from, say Solomon and Bathsheba, though it's been approximately 3000 years?"
"Yes", agreed Erasmus Darwin VIII, "Or how about Larry King, has the Larry King we see on television today advanced from when he was in the year 1,750, when he was at his sharpest?"
"Yes, I concur", stated Robert Darwin Sr. VII. "Mr. King has definitely regressed."
