British broadcaster ITV today announced plans to launch a new station, "ITV2 -1". The station will show many popular ITV shows such as the 6 o'clock news, but at the more convenient time of 5 o'clock.
Director general Michael Grade said in a statement - "In this era of on-demand technology, we decided to go a step ahead of the game."
Further stations such as "ITV2 +2", "ITV2 +5" and "ITV4 x2" are said to be in the pipeline. It is believed the concept of "ITV4 x2" is to double the speed at which programmes are played, to make available more space for adverts.
