The Mars Phoenix lander has sent back historic pictures from the red planet that indicate life did once exist there.
The image appears to be of a primitive life form that, scientists presume, may have died from over-eating Mars bars.
The obese, bespectacled creature has stick thin arms, indicating a lack of exercise. The discovery is an important development in the race for space, which currently planet earth claims to be winning.
"We have had no other entries for the race so far registered," said a NASA spokesperson. "If Martians are anything like the one we have a picture of, it wouldn't bother us if they decide to enter the race."
NASA has spent a billion gatrillion on its bid to win the space race over the past five decades, and it claims to be making good progress.
"So far we have collected a bit of dust off the moon and a bit of a meteor. Although the meteor was lucky because it fell to earth," said the spokesperson. "We have also managed to develop the Mars bar, which is the best selling confectionery in the world."
