Tuscaloosa, Alabama - Scientists at the Alabama Museum of Natural Hystery have named a newly discovered relative of the Whitefin Sharksucker species after President Obama.
Echeneis Neucratoides Obamanemesis is a rare example of remora from the Echeneidae family and is closely related to the Live Sharksucker Echeneis Naucrates Valerie Jarrettensis.
It joins a long line of marine creatures named after former US Presidents and their spouses including the Richard Nixon Loan Shark Tricky-Dicky Squaliformes and the Betty Ford Bottlenose Dolphin Tursiops Jack Daniels.
Marine zoologists say the new species first emerged from a 'sea of slime' at the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico where it was captured on film attempting to mate with another remora, an Ecuadorean Slippery Fish from the Prince Charles Whalesucker genus.
A companion suckerfish, Phtheirichthys Michelle - or the Slender Suckerfish as it's known in Tuscaloosa - was also identified after the Deepwater blowout which may have dislodged previously hidden marine habitits - er...habitats! - from the sea bed.
Reports that the new Obamafish is hermaphroditic are still mostly unconfirmed.
