This is not me

As a man who is in the process of becoming a woman, I get asked quite a lot of questions. In a bid to help every M2F person out there, I'll give you the answers to all your questions in this easily digestible guide.

Whatever the question, the answer is: "Mind your own bloody business."

There, that wasn't too hard, was it?

The above sentiment is the one you really need, but some people just can't mind their own business, so I'll go into a little more depth.

1. Are you gay?
This is possibly the most common question. Like it matters. You wouldn't ask anybody else that question, would you? Anyway, I'm not; but some M2F transitioning people are. Some of them are bisexual, some are asexual. Generally, our sexuality has absolutely nothing to do with our gender. Just like in the general population.

2. Why do you want to be a woman?
Usually for the same reason you want to be whatever gender you are. It's not complicated. You feel that you should be a man/woman (*delete as appropriate), because this is what your brain tells you. It's the same for us. The only difference is that your body matches what your brain says.

3. Is it a form of mental illness?
Sigh. No. We were basically handed the wrong body by the midwife. We're no more mentally unstable than anybody else. Some of us are more mentally strong than the general population. We have to be, to put up with the crap that society has decided it can fire in our direction for some reason. That said, according to the World Health Organisation, yes we are. Rather oddly, they removed being gay in 1990, but being trapped in the wrong body is still a form of body dismorphia. Like believing you have a leg you shouldn't have. We are trying to have that changed.

4. Which toilets do you use?
On the door of the toilets is a little picture. It shows somebody in a dress on one door, and somebody naked on the other. As I'm not naked, I used the one that matches what I'm wearing: a dress.

5. Aren't you worried if you change your mind?
As I have been wondering whether or not to do this for most of my

6. Are you sure you're not gay?

7. Where do you buy your shoes?
From shops that sell big shoes.

8. What does your family think?
All families are different. With some, when you tell them, they're very supportive; other's disown you. In rare occasions, when the parents are informed, you can collect on your inheritance earlier than expected. It all depends. It was half and half support and disown for me.

9. What about your friends?
Some friends stay, some go. That always happens. Good friends are friends with the person, not the clothes they're in.

10. One last time...are you gay?
Yes. I am, would you like a date before or after the operation?

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
