'My art teacher is becoming a real pain' Penny told her mother.
'I thought you got on very well with him.'
'I did. But now he's been moaning that I take up too much time talking about football. He's noticed that everything I do has someone scoring a goal.'
'Well, he has a point.'
So Penny went back to Bert and told him he had a point. 'In future I will not just concentrate on goals. What about someone saving a penalty?'
'You and your obsession with West Ham. It has become more important to you than student fees. You should be out there demonstrating.'
'I could get you in the Daily Mail for that: 'Radical Teacher incites children to revolt!' You would have to eat your words.'
'To even think about doing something like that is a disgrace. Now get on with your work and no more football.'
Penny drew a picture of students breaking windows and being arressted. 'Is that better?' she asked.
'You paint what you like. You know I believe in freedom' Bert replied.
'Some freedom - get on with your and work and no football - you are getting authoritarian Bert!'
Penny could see the anger and regretted her latest outburst. She would never have talked to any other teacher like that.
'You have a point. Although I was advising you not telling you.'
'And I shall take your advice Bert and go and get arrested next week!'
'My advice, young lady, is to demonstrate if you want to but not to get arrested.'
'OK. I'll tell the Police!'
