Brett Favre sat down with John Clayton for ESPN on Tuesday to talk about his return to football.
Favre: "I just want to say that I am coming back for one more year."
Clayton: "What made you come back for one more year?"
Favre: "I just love the attention I get by playing football, and the money isn't bad, either."
Clayton: "What do you say to the fans that can't seem to understand why it is so hard for you to make up your mind."
Favre: "I am a selfish athlete that doesn't care about what the fans think. I know that I can still play, because I proved it last year."
Clayton: "But last year you fade towards the end of the season and cost the Vikings a chance to go to the Super Bowl."
Favre: "Sure, I might have tore out Vikings fans' hearts, but they knew what they were getting with a quarterback like me."
Clayton: "So you aren't apologizing for your mistakes."
Favre: "I never did when I was in Green Bay. Look at how many games I threw away trying to be the hero."
Clayton: "Are you saying you lost games for Green Bay?"
Favre: "Yes! I loved just sling the ball all over the place. I threw the ball where the receiver should have been, if he was faster."
Clayton: "I don't think your old teammates in Green Bay will like to hear that."
Favre: "Where are those guys right now? I will tell you where they are. They are retired because they didn't have nearly as much talent as me."
Clayton: "I think Aaron Rogers is doing okay and so doing a better job in Green Bay than you ever did while you were a Packer."
Favre: "I never took a sack like that guy."
Clayton: "What do you expect when you go back to Green Bay this year."
Favre: "I hope I get booed."
Clayton: "Why do you want to be booed?"
Favre: "Because that way I run up the score like I did last year."
Clayton: "Do you want to say anything else?"
Favre: "The NFL is a business and I have no hard feelings when it comes to Green Bay Packers. Go Vikings!"
