image for Poetry Doubts
Are they laughing at me and my pathetic attempts?

Does my lack of poetic training show?
Does the prose in my 'poems' properly flow?
Is the imagery clear for all to see?
Or are my bored readers just laughing at me?

Does a carpenter make good cupboards right from the start?
Do his dovetails fit snugly? Are doors straight and smart?
Is everything perfect, with no tiny gaps?
Or do the doors swing wide open, and the shelving collapse?

Do milkmen correctly deliver milk on their first morning?
Do early risers get their pintas as the first light is dawning?
Are pasteurised and sterilised kept safely apart?
Or does the float resemble a 'rag 'n' bone' cart?

Is a surgeon accomplished straight from the off?
Does he recognise the difference between a sneeze and a cough?
Can patients be confident they've not breathed their last breath?
Or will 'complications' result in them bleeding to death?

Poetry, poetry! It's a fool's game!
I mean that sincerely, folks - poems are lame!
So freaking pretentious, it takes too much time,
To constantly come up with a suitable rhyme.
And yet ... there's an 'upside', a silver-lined cloud,
The finished product makes me quite proud,
Poems can be funny, but 'serious', YOU WHAT?
Don't make me laugh! Now, skidaddle, you lot!
