Mother-in-law based film: Avatar. Is old Gladys to blame?

Funny story written by Fizzle McDizzle

With 'Avatar' appearing in cinemas on the 17th December, we thought we'd catch up with James Cameron, the director - or producer - we're not too sure (or bothered). Cameron is previously known for 'Titanic', the biggest grossing film to date, with a brilliant Kate Winslet and a suspiciously hunky Leo DiCaprio as the main roles.

However, 'Avatar' is animation, and "nothing we have ever seen before"; apart from 'Cars', 'The Incredibles', 'Finding Nemo', and practically every ruddy film by Disney in the last ten years. So where was the inspiration for this magical new world, with odd blue creatures? Who do these creatures represent?

"My mother in law," he admits rather guiltily, "I got the inspiration of the ugly blue creatures from my mother-in-law. She walked down the stairs one day, wearing one of those giant Primark baby-grows, and I thought to myself 'she is an alien if ever there was one'. So I drew her, and Avatar was born."

Right, well I see she won't be too pleased about the fact she was the basis of a story on discovering an alien race...

"Well," he says, "I'm planning on sending her to Southend the day it comes out. By the end of the day, the hype will be over and Avatar will be a distant memory; well, fingers crossed. Is a day too ambitious?"

Yes, James, and fingers crossed. I highly doubt the superficial mother-in-law based film will see the success the Titanic has, or will it? If not, what film does he want it to out-do?

"Actually," smiles James, "I reckon Avatar is going to be the best film out there since Hannah Montana: The Movie. You know, I think it's almost as funny and is almost as engaging...almost."

Well, with those wise and encouraging words, this film sounds like an absolute treat. Don't forget to go abroad (perhaps Southend?) on 17th December when the new film 'Avatar' hits cinemas. I think I'll be going to hang with the mother-in-law and watch a much more epic Hannah Montana: The Movie.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
