Last weeks box office totals are in and the fim Citizen Kane 2: The Legend of Curly's Gold opened to an overall weak reception.
The film, a sequel to the 1940's classic continually rated as the greatest film of all time features none of the original cast, crew, writers, or much of the original audience in fact the only surviving person associated with the production is Jimmy Dewitt, a former child actor who played Kane as an infant, he turns a sprightly 76 years old next month.
The film's plot revolves around Charles Foster Kane's long lost twin brother Curly (Bronson Pinchot) who has learned of Gold buried somewhere under Xanadu, Kane's palatial estate. As he searches for the gold Curly Kane also pursues romance with Debra a gold expert (Rene Zelwigger), Curly receives help from his wisecracking best friend (Dane Cook), a bumbling ghost (Larry the Cable Guy)and also Billy Crystal.
The intrepid heroes must prevent the gold from falling into the clutches of the sinister Count (Christopher Walken). Curly Kane also adopts a young street wise African American orphan (Lil Romeo) ho provides conflict because Curly is white and thus hilarity ensues.
With great original music by Hootie and the Blowfish, Trace Adkins and Three Six Mafia, Citizen Kane 2: The Legend of Curly's Gold more than lives up to its pitch "from the people who brought you Baby Geniuses" .
