The fact that there's a McDonald's on Mars might be important, but more important is the space rover's name

Although everybody (at NASA, at least) only cares about what Space Rovers bring back from Mars or any other planet it might land on (Note to those people working at NASA - if you programme a Rover to land on Mars and it comes back wearing a colourful shirt covered in palm trees, wearing sunglasses, and also bearing photos from Pluto...then that's interesting), there's other things.

The name of the rover for instance.

Naming space rovers is certainly an interesting concept. Why didn't they just call 'Spirit' 'Space Rover #1031, that hopefully won't blow up like the other 1030?' Or 'Space Rover #1031'. Or, even simpler, 'SR1031'.

Well, it wouldn't be as entertaining for one thing. And they might just want to add a bit of fun into the whole thing.

However, there is one rover called 'Beagle'. Dalmatians and other breeds of animals might take offence at being left out.

So maybe the next space rover they send up should be called 'SR1031' after all.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
