image for Sue Pollard cast as Lady Macbeth
This TV misses the days of Hi-de-Hi as much as you do.

80's favourite Su Pollard is to be cast as Lady Macbeth in a fringe production of the Scottish play.

The actress best known for her work in 'Hi De Hi', 'Oh, my Artichokes, Oh, My Giddy Aunt', 'Whoops there goes another one', 'Penny Crayon' and 'Oh, Dr Beeching' is set to appear in an off broadway production of one Shakespeare's more popular and darker plays, as Lady Macbeth.

Mr Whotsit from the Apocalypse When theatre company told us: 'As a child in the 80's, I was a big fan of Hi de Hi, Paul Shane, and Jeffrey Holland were all ways my favourite characters, and I just loved Peggy, what Ms Pollard did with that was just outstanding. The amount of Pathos, and heartbreak she bought to the character was just heart breaking, so when I heard that she was available, and willing to work for a decent wage we just snapped her up. I mean we could have had a well known name, but we decided to go for an actress people had not heard of before. I grew up in England, so I already knew of her work, but she is not known here. I am hoping to change that, obviously'.

In the first rehearsal, Ms Pollard is said to have twisted an ankle, when a stage hand wished her good luck in Macbeth. 'It is ironic' said Mr Whotsit, 'If he had said break a leg, she would have been fine. Damn all this superstition…now where did I put my lucky rabbit's foot?'

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
