Popular song-singing, gameshow-without-a-game, Pop Idol, has been rocked to its foundations by claims that Simon Cowell is simply "being honest".
Previously Cowell has been reprimanded for mincing his words and generally being unable to say what he really thinks. "A fence-sitter" as he was branded by American co-hosts. However, recently the UK public has seen a turn around from Cowell's usual happy and obsequius ways. At one stage, Cowell was asked to appraise one contestant and replied with:
"Well, to be honest I thought you were dreadful. The worst I've heard tonight. In fact, I don't understand why you're here at all. Get your coat and your strange Dr Seuss type hat and get the hell out of my sight."
When asked to justify his comments, Cowell simply replied:
"The girl was crap. She couldn't sing, she looked awful. I'm simply telling you what I think."
For now, Pop Idol has been paused whilst Chief Executives sit around and talk about how important they are.
